Kennel Club health control schemes

Irish Setters (from 01.01.2008)

The Kennel Club will only register litters if both parents are DNA tested clear or are hereditarily clear of CLAD (Canine Leucocyte Adhesion Deficiency) unless advanced permission is sought to mate a clear x carrier. All progeny to be DNA tested and registered as clear or carrier. Carrier pups to be endorsed with ‘R’.

Irish Red & White Setters (from 17.06.2008)

The Kennel Club will only register litters if both parents are DNA tested clear or are hereditarily clear of CLAD (Canine Leucocyte Adhesion Deficiency)

Irish Setters (from 01.01.2010)

The Kennel Club will only register litters if both parents are DNA tested clear or are hereditarily clear of GPRA (Generalised Progressive Retinal Atrophy)

Irish Red & White Setters (from 01.01.2011)

The Kennel Club will only register litters if both parents are DNA tested clear or are hereditarily clear of vWD (von Willebrand’s disease)
